The Thai Marriage Visa is a visa issued to anyone who is married to a Thai citizen. This visa is valid for 3 months however can be extended to one year if you are looking at staying in Thailand long term. If you are married to a Thai citizen you can apply for a marriage visa as it is called. This visa is valid for 3 months and can be extended in country for 1 year.
There are certain financial conditions which do apply. You need to have 400,000 Baht in a Thai bank or you could simply have an income of at least 40,000 Baht a month. If you show any of the first two then you can only extend it for another 7 days at immigration for 1,900 Baht. Many Thai Embassies do issue a multiple entry Thai marriage visa which is valid for one year. The visa has 4 legs and you have to leave the country each time the leg expires. Each leg is valid for 3 months. Before the 3 months is used, you leave Thailand and return and the next leg is activated for another 3 months. You would need to do this 4 times a year to spend a year in Thailand with your wife.
